A Devoted Malibu Resident
Hello, I’m Haylynn Conrad!
As a married mother of two, I’m deeply invested in our community and excited to share my vision for Malibu with you. Seventeen years ago, I moved to Malibu from New York City, where I was raised by a single dad who was a schoolteacher dedicated to helping students in crisis. His work had a profound impact on me, shaping my belief in the importance of community and support.
My husband, a Malibu native who attended local public schools, and I decided to put down roots here, raising our children in this beautiful community we call home.
Over the years, I’ve seen our city face growing challenges. Traffic congestion has worsened, illegal parking has become more prevalent, and we’ve tragically lost sixty-one lives to road incidents. Many long-time residents are leaving Malibu, unable to stay in the place they once called home. We need to redirect our tax dollars to better serve our community—improving infrastructure, supporting our police and fire departments, and enhancing our schools and utilities. Currently, a large portion of our tax revenue is going to Santa Monica schools, which does not benefit Malibu directly.
Malibu is a fantastic place to live, with over 17 million visitors each year, a vibrant art scene, and stunning ocean views. We must ensure it remains a safe, welcoming place for everyone.
As a mom raising her kids in Malibu, I am committed to addressing these issues and improving our city. Let’s work together to make Malibu better for all of us!

Each week, our chickens produce two dozen eggs, and our bees create delicious honey right here in Malibu. These aren’t just any eggs and honey—they represent my dedication to sustainability, local agriculture, and giving back.
